Is there a better choreographer out there besides UCLA head coach Miss Val?  She makes amazing routines and can take gymnasts who dance like this:

to this:

She can also make stories in her routines like the amazing Anna Li:

and everytime I watch this routine by Brittani I get chills in the middle from how amazing she performs it…

I would love it if Miss Val could choreograph all of the USA elite gymnasts routines, then we’d have some amazing routines to watch.

What do you think, is Miss Val one of the best choreographers out there?

So I was just looking around on youtube today and found recent videos of Anna Pavlova competing on bars and beam!  They were posted only a day ago and they are obviously new videos because her knee is taped heavily still protecting her from her ACL tear.

Now of course she doesn’t look great just yet but it’s so good to see her back!!!  There aren’t any dismounts on either event yet but I do really like her first jump in her beam routine, it looks very elegant on Pavs!

I’m so excited to see her back, aren’t you???

Quitters Try on youtube has created a blog that is dedicated to finding the good gymnastics montages on the web and posting them for all to see…I think it’s a great idea!  (Too bad I don’t have one on there, haha I would expect it.)

Visit the new website here and I’ll link it on the right too.

Utah went up against Georgia last night at home and I watch it live and was happy to see some improvement by both teams.  Utah won with a score of 196.55-196.5.  I am going to be so depressed next year when we don’t have the lovely Daria Bijak to watch anymore in NCAA.  She’s so refreshing because she’s clean and performs skills nobody else does.  I love her vault, bars, beam, oh and her floor.  :)

Daria clinched the all-around title at the meet last night with her great performances.

Shayla Worley looked better for Georgia last night and she finally hit a floor set for a pretty good score.  Her bars looked much improved also.  I hope that Christa Tannella can pull it together and stay in the lineup, she suffered a fall on both events she competed last night, beam and floor.

Anyway…what are your thoughts on Utah and Georgia?  I personally believe they are going to have to really step it up to make the finals in the NCAA…there are too many great teams this year!  (Alabama scored the highest score yet last night 197.45!)(UCLA and Oklahoma are great this year too!)

Friday night at 9:00 PM Eastern time is the Georgia vs. Utah meet at Utah.  This will be a great meet and Utah should win…but I did watch a video update on the Gymdogs yesterday saying they re-worked routines and are much more confident now…so we’ll see.  Either way it will still be a good meet and guess what…It’s being streamed online for FREE!  Direct link here.

Yeah…I think I’ll be watching this meet on Friday night.  :)

I’m so sorry everyone I haven’t updated at all lately, I’ve just been so busy with my team’s competition season starting up…coaching definitely takes a lot of time.  :)

Anyway, here are a couple of thoughts:

  • Georgia does not look very good at all to me…unless they really start to improve they won’t make the final 4 or whatever it is now for NCAA finals.
  • UCLA looks absolutely amazing along with Oklahoma…they both have captured my attention for the season.
  • Elite gymnastics is pretty boring right now, but we’re in the off season for the level of the sport.  On the bright side…we’re getting into the major level 10 competition season!  EEEK!!!  I love all the videos that pop up of great level 10’s from around the country.

So is there anything you guys want to see me do on this site?  I promise I’ll try and update more…but anything else?  (That is if anyone even reads this blog anymore…)

Enjoy…

NCAA gymnastics started last night and I am so excited!!!  It’s so much more fun to watch girls having FUN!  I love the gymnastics performed too because they make it look so perfect, it’s not like elite gymnastics where they are just trying to get their 8 skills in.  Don’t get me wrong, I still love elite, but I would choose to go to an NCAA meet over an elite most likely.  Is anyone else with me on this thought?

Anyway, here is Hollie Vise’s triumphant return to floor exercise after not having competed it since her elite days back in 2003!!!  I’ve certainly missed her on floor!

Oklahoma ended up beating Florida…by looking at the videos I think Oklahoma is a lot better than many have expected!

At the rate Viktoria Komova is going she will be World All-Around Champion by a longshot!  She threw an amanar vault, the patterson dismount on beam, a stellar floor set, and a new low to high bar transition at the Veronin Cup.  Amazing!!!
