Final results of the event finals have yet to be posted for the Elite Canada competition, but videos are coming up slowly from the amazing Danafan1.

While scores have seemed to be low at this meet there has been some amazing gymnastics performed.  One routine that I enjoyed and think has potential is from Stefanie Merkle.  I don’t know where she placed as of yet, but I do like that she has a back full in her routine.  She has some form issues, but I’m happy to see a pretty diverse routine.

The all-around champion Dominique Pegg also did a more difficult floor routine during event finals and showed what great potential she has.

Canada needs to keep wearing those leo’s everywhere too, they are gorgeous!

Anyway, I think Canada has a pretty bright 2012 future and I believe that they can make the Olympics with a full team.

What do you think?

The Women’s Elite Canada competition is happening this weekend and the all-around was yesterday.  It was highlighted by a successful comeback by Kristina Vaculik who just had elbow surgery a year ago.

I wish she would of gone to the Olympics, but Canada’s stupid Olympic selection procedure messed that up for her.  At least we’ll get to see her compete a lot when she comes to the States for NCAA Gymnastics!

Full results of the meet here.

Gymnastike has uploaded videos from the University of Georgia Gymdogs Sneak Peek and they are looking pretty good!

Grace Taylor is her usual adorable self and congrats to her for getting engaged this past week!

It looks as though Courtney McCool is going to be leading the team with Grace because she looks amazing herself!  Her tumbling and everything are as gorgeous as ever.

I was sad that Christa Tanella was sick with a fever and couldn’t do the sneak peek, I’m really excited to see what she can do in NCAA.

My biggest disappointment was Shayla Worley, she looks terrible!  She didn’t hit one event and she can’t make it through a beam or floor routine.  That’s not a good sign considering it’s already December!  It seems Shayla hasn’t found a good balance of college and college gymnastics yet…hopefully she’ll get in better shape soon or she won’t be in their competition roster.

What do you all think of UGA’s sneak peek?

Well here is something I would of never thought I’d hear…

Vanessa Ferrari who won the 2006 World All Around title has enlisted in the Italian Army!

The Italian Gymnastics Federation’s article indicates that Ferrari had intended to inscribe earlier, but injuries postponed the day of enrollment. What Ferrari’s official duties will be, or how she’ll balance training with being in the army, has not been made public.

Well I think it’s pretty neat actually!

What do you think???

Ana Porgras of Romania who wowed many people at the worlds a few weeks ago won the beam at the DTB Cup this past weekend.  She has changed up her routine but she seems to be more solid with it.  I do miss her backwalkover before her backhandspring whip.

I can’t wait to see what great things come out of this young Romanian though!

So as I was looking around youtube I came across two little ones from Canada (Quebec area) who are going to be major stars as long as they can stay healthy.

They are both already excellent but I am very impressed with the younger sister Rose who is only 9 years old!  The height she gets on her tumbling and skills is amazing!  She has great polish for such a young age.  Watch her beam dismount, she barely walks into it!

Pretty amazing right?

Brazil’s Daiane Dos Santos failed a drug test that was administered in July and will now have to face the FIG for disciplinary actions.

Former world champion Daiane dos Santos (Brazil) tested positive for the diuretic furosemide during an out-of-competition test in July, the FIG announced Friday.

The FIG submitted the case to its disciplinary commission on Thursday after notifying the 26-year-old Dos Santos.

“The gymnast’s right to reserve a hearing extends to Nov. 13, 2009, after which date the Commission will rule and submit its conclusions to the FIG Presidential Commission for a final decision,” the FIG stated. “The gymnast has 21 days to appeal to the FIG Appeal Tribunal.

I.G.

The substance is used to either help lose water weight or help mask other substances.  Hopefully she was just trying to lose some of the weight she probably put on being away from training…

Bad news for her though…
